Development is two sides. The side that economist view as positive growth for society and the side that environmentalists view as negative impact on our eco systems. As a surfer, I find myself on the other side of the fence quite often. I've tried to justify the positive aspects of development. Generally that justification has to do with the word "more" for society. Is "more" really the answer though? Perhaps we could all benefit from a bit less so that we can create more. More beach for more people, more clean water for us to play in, more happiness from being outside, and more interaction with those around us from less distraction. I don't ever want that which I hold to the highest value to be just out of reach.
